Shelby county!!
While watching the news the other day I came across this one story that will probably effect a lot of people in Shelby county!! It turns out that there will be 300 layoffs that will occur soon because Shelby county is running out of money!! So to fix it they have to layoff that many people!!! How ridiculous is that! I mean who are they going to lay off and hoe do they make that decision?? It could be my mom or dad or my friend!! anybody! That's a lot of people! Plus most of the people they are going to lay off have families they have top provide for and now they are going to be jobless! It is horrible! Shouldn't Shelby county mayor be good at keeping a good budget? What the heck do they spend it on? I am not positive but I think Shelby county is one of the worst county with money problems in Tennessee... That's really bad!! I think that the mayor needs to find another solution to fix the money problem then laying off people. It seems he is taking the easy way out or it could be that is the first thing they came up with and did not look at any other way. There has to be another way! there is enough homeless people in Shelby county and enough people going bankrupt! We don't need anymore! So hopefully they pick another solution that does not involve people losing their jobs!
Tigers!!!!
Man Monday night was extremely stressful!!! Before the game I was already a nervous wreck!! I had my tiger t-shirt on and I went to my friend Dustin's house with a bunch of friends to watch the game!! They made me dinner, which kinda calmed me down but right when 8:20 came I was glued to the TV. It was unbelievable how close the game was throughout the whole thing!! First Memphis was ahead, then it was Kansas, then back to Memphis and so on. It was the closet game I have ever watched so far!! Man.. I was so nervous I probably went the bath room about 10 times through out the game!! But when the last four minutes came, my heart was beating a thousand beats per minute!! Everyone in the house was laughing at me, for one I'm the only one there that went to Memphis so I was more into it and I kept leaving the room to go sit in the Kitchen to get away from it... I thought we had it!!! And I blame the revs because it seemed there wouldn't call any fouls...I was so mad but man when Kansas made that last basket with only a few seconds to spare, my mouth dropped!! I was shocked!!Then we went into over time and Kansas won... It was def a sad day for Memphis!! But hey second place is not bad plus tigers set a new record!!! 38 wins and only 2 loses!!! Not bad!! I'm still proud of them and so is the rest of the city of Memphis!!!

part 2
Stereotyping is also a problem. Like people assume someone is this way because of there skin color... for instance for a long time a lot of people's assumptions of me was that I was a snobby white girl, who lives on daddy's money and is a ditsy cheerleader. But that is not even close of being true!! I have a big family and so we are def. far from having money and I had to work to raise money for every year I cheered because my mom or dad can not help me. I also have to work for everything I have now.... so thinking white people are always rich and don't have to work for anything is def. wrong! I know a lot of friends that are white Also even though I grew up in white neighborhood, all my schools had a good diverse group of people. So I have friends of all kind of race! I'll be friends with anyone who is nice to me and is not rude. I don't care how anyone looks.. it doesn't matter to me and that is how it should be.. Why should it matter how people dress or skin color?? It just depends where they grow up and who they hang out with. So why is that a problem? One day I looked around in Hollidays and I thought something was really cute but my friend who was with me told me it look black... What does that suppose to mean?? Maybe because more black people shop at hollidays but she said it just looks black... but seriously what is actually dressing black or dressing white? Is it because more white people dress one way and black people dress another way??? I just think people dress the way they want and whatever they like and what ever fits there personality.
Can we talk about race?
Today during class we talked about this subject, "Can we talk about race?" It's a subject that every one can say something about it. Everyone has there own opinion upon it and there is so much to talk about... so where to start??? First of all I really do believe we can talk about it, but only if the time and place is right. Why can't we? This country is the most diverse country in the world, so we should be able to... Everyone is created equal! It doesn't matter if you are white, black , Asian, purple, or from mars.... God created everyone equally!!! So why is it such a problem? Like one paster said " The only reason why black and white people look differently is because white people stay away from the sun and black people get close to it" Which I thought was hilarious! If you cut one black and a white on the arm or where ever what color is each blood?.... both red!!! Yeah they look different but are the Same!!! So why can't we talk about it? Some say they are scared to bring it up some places for it might offend someone and might want to hurt them...the only reason we talked about it today because it was in class and everyone is pretty much comfortable talking about it. I can talk about race at my work, Holliday Fashions, because we are all close and we have a good diverse of people there... like white, black, mix, asian, and indian. So we talk about everything with no one getting mad and sometimes even joke about it. Why cant it be like that in United States.... Everyone be okay with it and it be okay talking about it no matter where you are... hopefully one day it will... it gets better as years go by. It use to be worst back in the 1950's then Martin Luther King Jr. came along... If it wasn't for him today would be a totally different . Schools would be separated and no one would get along. I wonder if he didn't get assassinated that the country could talk about it and everyone get along.

2 more weeks...
Well its been a long time since josh has left for boot camp but only two weeks left! The closer it gets, the faster the time goes. thank god!!! Each day it gets closer till he comes back, I get more and more excited. I do not think I have looked forward to a day so much than I do for josh's return!!! He finally is feeling better, not to long ago he had a upper respiratory infection and bronchitis and his knee is finally healed! So far he has completed ever hard task that is thrown at him and has one more big task to complete till graduation on April 18th. It is one if the hardest to complete. Next Friday he has to begin a forty mile hike in three days. It might not seem that hard but add about 120 pound pack on your back... Also they are only allowed about three hours of sleep a night!! Extremely hard!! I really hope he passes.. Its really nerve racking not knowing how he does until the day he graduates. He has to pass this to walk and if not means longer time in the terrible boot camp and longer time for me to see him :( Well bad news is I can not go to hie graduation in South Carolina... Because its during the last week of school and plus I don't have enough money for a plane ticket!! It really sucks because I want to be there when accomplish something this huge and he becomes a actual marine!! Plus its three days I have to wait til I see him!! But only two weeks, thats all I keep telling myself! It is not that far off and it will be here before I know it!
Friday Night
Last Friday night was unbelievable!! It started out a good night with a surprise party for one of my friends. It was just a regular party with everyone knowing everyone. It was fine. Then little bit of fights broke out for dumb reasons and because of probably being drunk but nothing bad. Around midnight I left to head home for I had work in the morning, which I'm glad I did. Not soon after I left more fights broke out and more people kept showing up that no one knew. It headed up someone one was calling for more friends to show up and wait till all of our friends to leave. Then with out of the blue the people who live there got jumped. It was def out numbered. For instance five against about twenty or more. It was really bad. The cops ended up coming, which they did nothing, and my friends who live there ended up going to the hospital. They don't know who did it but they def suck!!! They also took there little dog ,thats shaped like a hot dog, shoved it in the toilet and tried to drown it!! Who the hell does that!!! They even broke the toilet doing it!! The dog did nothing wrong!! I've never heard anybody doing that!! Also it was low of them waiting for everyone to leave and jump the ones who through the party!! I mean come on!!! But they are okay, every cut bandage, and they didn't get in any trouble which is good!! The dog is okay, a little shocking up from the close to death experience. Also no doors got busted like the last party, for those who know about the awesome Halloween party we had!! haha
Health care
Throughout the mouths i have been researching health care and finding every information I can find on the subject, I always thought it was the government and companies to blame for the problem. But I come to realize that the people aren't helping and are abusing it. One day last week I visited my mom at her work, Methodist North Hospital, and I decided to stay to observe what actually goes on and how many people actually has heath care. One thing I figure out is how many people are so rude in this city. The second my mom or another access facilitator ask them for profe of insurance they make a huge scene and use inappropriate words. They actually think they don't need insurance to be seen and some actually think it is free! I mean come on. Then people will get impatient because the wait is so long, but they should know that in the hospital you are seen by your health, which is worst are seen first. People come to the hospital for the stupidest reasons! For instance a headache, ear ache, a cold, and even a prick on someone's finger! It is retarded!! Most people who come through the hospital have either tenn care or Medicare insurance, which will pay for retarded coverage like a cold.... Others can fill out a form for a payment plan that can help you out with your bill. They can also fill out financial assistance form that someone can qualify for, which almost every one does, and will cut the bill in half. sometimes it'll pay for the whole thing but thats really rare, it depends on your income and household. But for that other little percentage of people that are rude and don't like to cooperate, won't give any information like insurance and living address. So with the law being no one can be turned away, the people will get seen and the hospital is left with the bill. It's ridiculous! If people stop abusing the system we have now, maybe the situation will be solved sooner!!!
